The Election Commission says that it has issued notices to parties and independent groups that have won a majority in local government institutions to nominate chairmen of those institutions.
Election Commission Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake stated that the relevant notices will be issued to the secretaries of parties and independent groups that have won local government institutions with a majority of more than 50 percent of the votes.
The results of this year’s local government elections were released yesterday (07), and the National People’s Force succeeded in winning power in several local government institutions.
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya, the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Party and several independent groups have also won power in other local government institutions.
However, these parties have not been able to win more than 50 percent of the votes in many local government institutions.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission stated that the local government members elected at the divisional level will be gazetted in the coming days.
The Election Commission has indicated that it will inform the relevant parties and independent groups in the coming days about the women representatives to be appointed to local government institutions.
Accordingly, after studying the women representatives elected at the divisional level, it is scheduled to inform about the women representatives to be appointed.

මැතිවරණ කොමිෂන් සභාවේ සභාපති ආර්.එම්.ඒ.එල් රත්නායක මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, සියයට 50කට වැඩි බහුතර ඡන්ද ප්රතිශතයකින් පළාත් පාලන ආයතන ජයග්රහණය කළ පක්ෂවල සහ ස්වාධීන කණ්ඩායම්වල ලේකම්වරුන්ට අදාළ දැනුම්දීම සිදුකරන බවයි.
මෙවර පළාත් පාලන ආයතන ඡන්ද විමසීමේ ප්රතිඵල ඊයේ (07) දිනයේ නිකුත් වූ අතර එහිදී පළාත් පාලන ආයතන රැසක බලය හිමිකර ගැනීමට ජාතික ජනබලවේගය සමත්වුණා.
සමගි ජන බලවේගය, ඉලංකෙයි තමිල් අරසු පක්ෂය සහ ස්වාධීන කණ්ඩායම් කිහිපයකට ද තවත් පළාත් පාලන ආයතනවල බලය හිමිව තිබේ.
කෙසේවෙතත් බොහෝ පළාත් පාලන ආයතනවල සියයට 50කට වැඩි ප්රතිශතයකින් ජයග්රහණය කිරීමට එම පක්ෂවලට නොහැකි වී තිබේ.
මේ අතර කොට්ඨාශ මට්ටමින් තේරී පත් වූ පළාත් පාලන ආයතන සභිකයින් ගැසට් මඟින් ප්රකාශයට පත් කිරීම ඉදිරි දින කිහිපය තුළ සිදුකරන බවයි මැතිවරණ කොමිෂන් සභාව සඳහන් කළේ.
පළාත් පාලන ආයතන සඳහා පත් කළ යුතු කාන්තා නියෝජනයන් පිළිබඳව ඉදිරි දිනවලදී අදාළ පක්ෂ සහ ස්වාධීන කණ්ඩයම් වෙත දැනුම්දෙන බව මැතිවරණ කොමිෂන් සභාව පෙන්වාදී තිබෙනවා.
ඒ අනුව කොට්ඨාස මට්ටමින් තේරී පත් වී ඇති කාන්තා නියෝජනයන් පිළිබඳව අධ්යයනය කිරීමෙන් අනතුරුව පත් කළ යුතු කාන්තා නියෝජිතයින් පිළිබඳව දැනුම්දීමට නියමිතය.
