A place where canned fish was produced by misleading consumers by falsely using the name and standard logo of a manufacturing company.
Following a complaint received by the Consumer Affairs Authority, a place where fake canned fish was being produced in the Doongalpitiya area of Talahena, Negombo was raided yesterday (03).
It has been revealed that the canned fish had been produced and packaged in an unclean and irregular manner by using a false standard certificate and the name of the manufacturing company issued by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution.
During the raid, officers are said to have seized nearly 700 substandard tinned fish packs with a net weight of 425 grams each, which were counterfeit and were ready to be released to the market, and a lorry that was prepared for the transport of the stock.
Preliminary investigations related to the raid have also revealed that substandard products manufactured at this location have been distributed to Gampaha and surrounding areas over the past two months.
Further investigations are underway in this regard and cases are scheduled to be filed against the relevant individuals following those investigations in the future.

ශ්රී ලංකා ප්රමිති ආයතනය මගින් නිකුත් කරනු ලැබූ ප්රමිති සහතිකය හා නිෂ්පාදන ආයතන නාමයක් ව්යාජ ලෙස යොදා ගනිමින් අපිරිසිදු හා අවිධිමත් ලෙස මෙම ටින්මාළු නිශ්පාදනය හා ඇසුරුම් කිරීම සිදුකොට ඇති බවට අනාවරණය වි තිබෙනවා.
වැටලීමේදී ව්යාජ ලෙස නිශ්පාදනය කර වෙළෙඳපොළට නිකුත්කිරීමට සුදානම්කර තිබු ප්රමිතියෙන් තොර එ්කක ශුද්ධ බර ග්රෑම් 425ක් සහිත ටින්මාළු ඇසුරුම් 700 කට ආසන්න ප්රමාණයක් හා එම තොගය ප්රවාහනයට සූදානම් කර තිබූ ලොරි රථයක් ද නිලධාරින් භාරයට ගත් බවයි පැවසෙන්නේ.
පසුගිය මාස දෙකක පමණ කාලය තුළ ගම්පහ ඇතුළු අවට ප්රදේශවලට මෙම ස්ථානයෙන් නිෂ්පාදනය කරනු ලැබූ ප්රමිතියෙන් තොර නිෂ්පාදන බෙදාහැර ඇති බවට ද වැටලිමට අදාළ මුලික විමර්ෂණවලදි අනාවරණය වී තිබෙනවා.
