The Department of Immigration and Emigration has issued an announcement due to the upcoming local government elections.
It states that due to local government election duties, the provision of one-day and regular services for issuing passports will have to be restricted on May 05, 06 and 07.
Due to this, the department has also informed the public that the 24-hour service that was operated for one-day services will not be operational on those days.

එළැඹෙන පළාත් පාලන මැතිවරණය හේතුවෙන් ආගමන හා විගමන දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව නිවේදනයක් නිකුත් කර තිබෙනවා.
පළාත් පාලන මැතිවරණ රාජකාරී කටයුතු හේතුවෙන් මැයි මස 05,06 සහ 07 යන දිනවලදී විදේශ ගමන් බලපත්ර නිකුත් කිරීමේ එක්දින හා සාමාන්ය සේවාවන් සැපයීම සීමා කිරීමට සිදුවන බව එහි සඳහන්.
මේ හේතුවෙන් එක්දින සේවය සඳහා ක්රියාත්මක වූ පැය 24 සේවාව එම දිනවලදී ක්රියාත්මක නොවන බවද එම දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව මහජනතාව වෙත දැනුම් දී තිබෙනවා.
