President Anura Kumara Dissanayake made an emergency visit to Kandy yesterday (24) evening to assess the situation as over 400,000 devotees gathered for the ‘Siri Dalada Pandana’, overwhelming local authorities.
The government has urged the public not to travel to Kandy for the next two days, and special transport services from Colombo have been cancelled due to the unrest and heavy traffic.

ඉදිරි දින දෙක තුළ මහනුවරට ගමන් නොකරන ලෙස රජය මහජනතාවගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටින අතර, නොසන්සුන්කාරී සහ අධික තදබදය හේතුවෙන් කොළඹ සිට විශේෂ ප්රවාහන සේවා අවලංගු කර ඇත
