Issuing a message of greetings on the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr festival, which is celebrated by Muslims around the world after observing a month of fasting and then observing the new moon, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has said that it is a very important day in the Islamic religious calendar.
The President, in his statement, pointed out that these teachings of Islam will serve as an ideal in the steps taken to build a society where freedom, equality and human dignity prevail, fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the country for a developed Sri Lanka with many social, economic and political transformations.
