The budget proposal for the year 2025 is scheduled to be presented to Parliament today (17).

As the Minister of Finance, the Honorable President Anura Kumara Dissanayake or the Deputy Minister of Finance is scheduled to present this year’s budget to Parliament.
The ministers of the Aranchi government say that this year’s budget will provide a relief package to the people.
It is reported that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will present a budget to Parliament today (17) that will include a significant salary increase for public servants, including an increase in the basic salary, and will focus more on easing the living burden of the common people in general.
It is reported that proposals to achieve the country’s future development goals as well as proposals aimed at involving every section of the country in the economic process in the preparation of budget proposals will be included in this year’s budget.
It is said that this year’s budget has also focused on expanding the tax mechanism for the tax net to further increase tax revenue.
According to the agreements reached with the International Monetary Fund, it is also necessary to increase state revenue to 15.1 percent of the gross domestic product this year (2025).
Since the existing subsidy provision system is flawed, it is said that this year’s budget has also focused on identifying those flaws and ensuring that the subsidies reach the essential community and expediting that process.
It is also noteworthy that this is the first budget presented after the National People’s Power government came to power.
The appropriation bill related to this budget was presented to Parliament on January 9th.
The debate related to the second reading of the budget will be held for seven days from February 18th to February 25th, 2025.
The second reading vote on the budget is scheduled to be held on February 25th at 6:00 PM.
The budget committee stage debate is scheduled to be held for 19 days from February 27th to March 21st.
The third reading vote on the Appropriation Bill will then be held on March 21st at 6:00 PM.
Meanwhile, a preliminary discussion for the final stage of preparing the budget has been held under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
This discussion was held on the afternoon of the 13th and it is said that several crucial issues related to the budget were discussed.

ආණ්ඩුවේ මැති ඇමතිවරුන් පවසන්නේ මෙවර අයවැවෙන් ජනතාවට සහන පැකේජයක් දෙන බවයි.
මූලික වැටුපේ වර්ධනයක් ද සහිතව රාජ්ය සේවකයන් සඳහා දැනෙන වැටුප් වැඩි වීමක් සිදු කෙරෙන සහ පොදුවේ සාමාන්ය ජනයාගේ ජීවන බර සමනය කිරීමට වැඩි අවධානයක් යොමු කරන අයවැයක් ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා විසින් අද (17) දින පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට ඉදිරිපත් කරනු ඇතැයි වාර්තා වනවා.
රටේ ඉදිරි සංවර්ධන ඉලක්ක සපුරා ගැනීම සඳහා වන යෝජනා මෙන්ම අයවැය යෝජනා සැකසීමේ දී රටේ සෑම ජන කොටසක් ම ආර්ථික ක්රියාවලියට සහභාගි කර ගැනීමේ අරමුණින් වන යෝජනා මෙවර අයවැයට ඇතුළත් වනු ඇති බවයි වාර්තා වන්නේ.
බදු ආදායම් තවත් වර්ධනය කර ගැනීම සඳහා බදු දැල සඳහා බදු යාන්ත්රණය පුළුල් කිරීමට ද මෙවර අයවැයේ අවධානය යොමුකර ඇති බවයි පැවසෙන්නේ.
ජාත්යන්තර මූල්ය අරමුදල සමග ඇති කර ගෙන ඇති එකඟතාවලට අනුව මේ වර්ෂයේ (2025) දී දළ දේශීය නිෂ්පාදිතයේ ප්රතිශතයක් ලෙස සියයට 15.1 ක් දක්වා රාජ්ය ආදායම වැඩි කර ගැනීමට ද අවශ්ය වනවා.
දැනට පවතින සහනාධාර ලබා දෙන ක්රමවේද අඩුපාඩු සහිත බැවින් එම අඩුපාඩු හඳුනා ගනිමින් සහනාධාර අත්යවශ්ය ප්රජාව වෙත ලැබෙන බවට නිශ්චය කර ගැනීමට හා එම ක්රියාවලිය කඩිනම් කිරීම ගැන ද මෙවර අයවැයෙන් අවධානය යොමු කර ඇති බවයි පැවසෙන්නේ.
ජාතික ජන බලවේග රජය බලයට පත්වීමෙන් පසුව ඉදිරිපත් කරන පළමු අයවැය මෙය වීමද විශේෂත්වයක්.
මේ අයවැයට අදාළ විසර්ජන පනත් කෙටුම්පත පසුගිය ජනවාරි 09 වැනි දා පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට ඉදිරිපත් කෙරුණා.
අයවැය දෙවන වර කියවීමට අදාළ විවාදය 2025 පෙබරවාරි 18 සිට පෙබරවාරි 25 වැනිදා දක්වා දින හතක් පවත්වනු ලබයි.
පෙබරවාරි 25 වැනිදා පස්වරු 6.00ට අයවැය දෙවනවර කියවීමේ ඡන්ද විමසීම පැවැත්වීමට නියමිතව ඇත.
අයවැය කාරක සභා අවස්ථාවේ විවාදය පෙබරවාරි 27 වැනිදා සිට මාර්තු 21 වැනිදා දක්වා දින 19ක් පැවැත්වීමට නියමිතයි.
අනතුරුව විසර්ජන පනත් කෙටුම්පත තෙවන වර කියවීමේ ඡන්ද විමසීම මාර්තු 21 වැනිදා පස්වරු 6.00ට පැවැත්වෙනු ලැබේ.
මේ අතර අයවැය ලේඛනය සකස් කිරීමේ අවසන් අදියර සඳහා වන පූර්ව සාකච්ඡාවක් ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතාගේ ප්රධානත්වයෙන් පවත්වා ඇත.
පසුගිය 13 වැනිදා පස්වරුවේ මෙම සාකච්ඡාව පැවැති අතර අයවැයට අදාළ තීරණාත්මක කරුණු කිහිපයක් සාකච්ඡා වී ඇති බවයි පැවසෙන්නේ.
