During the special traffic operation conducted during the 24-hour period ending at 6 am on the (28th), the law has been enforced against 383 drunk drivers.
The Police Media Division stated that accordingly, the law has been enforced against 8,392 drivers for traffic violations during the relevant period.
Out of these, 1382 drivers have been arrested for violating traffic rules, 690 drivers for license violations, 98 for speeding and 59 drivers for reckless driving.
A special traffic operation covering the entire island was implemented from the 23rd on the instructions of the Acting Inspector General of Police with the aim of minimizing traffic accidents during the festive season.

පොලිස් මාධ්ය කොට්ඨාසය සඳහන් කළේ, ඒ අනුව අදාළ කාලය තුළ සමස්ත රථ වාහන වැරදි සම්බන්ධයෙන් රියදුරන් 8,392 නෙකුට එරෙහිව නීතිය ක්රියාත්මක කර ඇති බවයි.
එහිදී මාර්ග නීති උල්ලංඝනය කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් රියදුරන් 1382 දෙනෙක්ද, බලපත්ර වැරදි සම්බන්ධයෙන් රියදුරන් 690 දෙනෙක්ද, අධිකවේගයෙන් රිය පැදවීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් 98 දෙනෙක්ද මෙන්ම අපරික්ෂාකාරී ලෙස රිය ධාවනය සම්බන්ධයෙන් රියදුරන් 59 දෙනෙකුට එරෙහිව නීතිය ක්රියාත්මක කර තිබෙනවා.
උත්සව සමයේ රථවාහන අනතුරු අවම කර ගැනීමේ අරමුණින් වැඩබලන පොලිස්පතිවරයාගේ උපදෙස් පරිදි විශේෂ රථවාහන මෙහෙයුමක් පසුගිය 23 වනදා සිට දිවයිනම ආවරණය වන පරිදි ක්රියාත්මක කෙරුණා.
