The Dharmaraja College Old Boys’ Union (Colombo Branch) will host a prestigious felicitation ceremony in honour of the newly appointed Principal of Dharmaraja College, Mr. Namal Kumara, on 12th June 2026 at the NH Collection Colombo (formerly Mövenpick Hotel) commencing at 6.00 p.m.

The event is expected to bring together a distinguished gathering of past principals, eminent Old Rajans, professionals, corporate leaders, and well-wishers of the college in celebration of a new chapter in the illustrious history of Dharmaraja College.

Speaking on behalf of the organizers, Mr. Chatura Wijesuriya, President of the Dharmaraja College Old Boys’ Union (Colombo Branch), stated that the primary objective of the event is to provide an opportunity for the Old Rajan community to engage with Principal Namal Kumara and gain insight into his strategic vision for the future development of the alma mater.

“Dharmaraja College has produced generations of outstanding citizens who have contributed immensely to Sri Lanka and the global community. This felicitation ceremony is not merely a welcome for our new Principal; it is an opportunity to align the efforts of the Colombo Branch and the wider Old Rajan network with his vision and aspirations for the future of our beloved school,” Mr. Wijesuriya said.

A notable feature of the evening will be the participation of all living past Principals of Dharmaraja College, symbolizing continuity, unity, and respect for the institution’s rich heritage and traditions.

The ceremony will also recognize and honour the dedicated individuals who worked tirelessly over the past three decades to secure the return of the historic Bilimoria and Banbury Building Complex, the former primary school premises of Dharmaraja College. Their unwavering commitment and perseverance culminated in a landmark legal victory that restored this treasured heritage property to the school.

Adding further significance to the event, a special panel discussion titled “Building the Global Rajan” will explore the role of education, leadership, character development, and global competitiveness in shaping future generations of Rajans. The discussion will feature renowned business leader Mr. Priyantha Talwatte and recently retired Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe, and will be moderated by respected Old Rajan Mr. Kamal Dorabawila.

The event is jointly chaired by Mr. Nimal Ratnayake and Mr. Indika de Soyza, whose leadership has been instrumental in organizing this landmark gathering.

Among the attendees will be a distinguished cross-section of Old Rajans who have excelled in diverse fields including medicine, engineering, law, accounting, academia, entrepreneurship, public service, and corporate leadership, reflecting the enduring legacy and influence of Dharmaraja College both locally and internationally.

The Guest of Honour for the evening will be Hon. Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, Speaker of Parliament and a proud Old Rajan, whose presence will further underscore the significance of the occasion.

As Dharmaraja College continues its journey towards educational excellence and national leadership, this felicitation ceremony is expected to serve as a platform to strengthen the bond between the school and its global alumni network while charting a progressive path for the future.
