The Colombo High Court today (03) ordered that the further hearing of the case filed by the Bribery Commission against former Minister Johnston Fernando and three others, alleging that he caused a loss to the government by removing Sathosa employees from their official duties and engaging them in his political activities during his tenure as the Trade Minister, be called on October 01.
The case was called before Colombo High Court Judge R.S.S. Sapuvida today.
At that time, the defendants, former Minister Johnston Fernando, former Chairman of Sathosa Eraj Fernando and Mohamed Zakir, who served as a coordinating secretary to the former minister, who are out on bail, appeared in court.
At that time, evidence was recorded from the prosecution witnesses under the guidance of Bribery Commission officials.
The judge then ordered the further examination of evidence to be adjourned until October 1.
The Attorney General has filed this case against former Minister Johnston Fernando and the three defendants, alleging that he committed the offence of corruption under Section 70 of the Bribery Act, by removing a group of employees of the S.T.O.S. from their official duties and engaging them in his political activities, while serving as the Minister of Trade from 2010 to 2014.

වෙළඳ අමාත්යවරයා වශයෙන් කටයුතු කළ සමයේ ස.තො.ස ආයතනයේ සේවකයින් ඔවුන්ගේ නිල රාජකාරීවලින් ඉවත් කර සිය දේශපාලන කටයුතුවල යෙදවීම තුළින් රජයට පාඩුවක් සිදු කළ යැයි චෝදනා කරමින් හිටපු අමාත්ය ජෝන්ස්ටන් ප්රනාන්දු ඇතුළු විත්තිකරුවන් තුන්දෙනෙකුට එරෙහිව අල්ලස් කොමිසම විසින් ගොනුකර තිබෙන නඩුවේ වැඩිදුර විභාගය ඔක්තෝබර් මස 01 වනදා කැඳවන ලෙස කොළඹ මහාධිකරණය අද (03) නියෝග කර තිබෙනවා .
මෙම නඩුව අද කොළඹ මහාධිකරණ විනිසුරු ආර්.එස්.එස් සපුවිද ඉදිරියේයි කැඳවනු ලැබුවේ .
එම අවස්ථාවේදී ඇප මත මුදා හැර සිටින විත්තිකරුවන් වන හිටපු අමාත්ය ජෝන්ස්ටන් ප්රනාන්දු, සතොස ආයතනයේ හිටපු සභාපති එරාජ් ප්රනාන්දු සහ හිටපු අමාත්යවරයාගේ සම්බන්ධීකරණ ලේකම්වරයකු වශයෙන් කටයුතු කළ මොහොමඩ් සාකීර් යන විත්තිකරුවන් අධිකරණයේ පෙනී සිටියා.
එහිදී අල්ලස් කොමිසමේ නිලධාරීන්ගේ මෙහෙයවීම යටතේ පැමිණිල්ලේ සාක්ෂිකරුවන්ගෙන් සාක්ෂි සටහන් කර ගැනීම සිදු වුණා.
ඉන් අනතුරුව වැඩිදුර සාක්ෂි විභාගය ඔක්තෝබර් මස 01 වනදා දක්වා කල් තැබීමට විනිසුරුවරයා නියෝග කළේ .
2010 වසරේ සිට 2014 වසර දක්වා කාලසීමාව තුළ වෙළඳ අමාත්යවරයා වශයෙන් කටයුතු කරමින් සිටියදී ස.තො.ස ආයතනයේ සේවකයින් පිරිසක් ඔවුන්ගේ නිල රාජකාරීවලින් ඉවත් කර සිය දේශපාලන කටයුතුවල යෙදවීම තුළින් රජයට පාඩුවක් සිදු කළේ යැයි චෝදනා කරමින් අල්ලස් පනතේ 70 වන වගන්තිය යටතේ දූෂණය නමැති වරද සිදු කළේ යැයි චෝදනා කොට හිටපු අමාත්ය ජෝන්ස්ටන් ප්රනාන්දු ඇතුළු විත්තිකරුවන් තුන් දෙනාට එරෙහිව නීතිපතිවරයා විසින් මෙම නඩුව ගොනුකර තිබෙනවා.
