The Police Headquarters has instructed all police officers to check persons behaving suspiciously even while wearing protective helmets.
The Police Headquarters has issued this information in a statement.
The Police say that it has been observed that suspects in various crimes including shootings and murders that have occurred in various parts of the island in the past have committed crimes wearing helmets that cover their heads and faces.
Wearing a helmet is required when riding a motorcycle and it is only for the safety of the rider and the pillion rider.
Therefore, when it is observed that a person is behaving suspiciously while not riding a motorcycle wearing a protective helmet, the Police Headquarters has instructed all police officers to check that person and his belongings, the statement further states.

ආරක්ෂිත හිස් වැසුම් පැළද සැකකටයුතු ලෙස හැසිරෙන පුද්ගලයින් සම්බන්ධයෙන් පරික්ෂා කිරීම සිදුකළ යුතු බවට දන්වා පොලිස් මූලස්ථානය මගින් සියලුම පොලිස් නිලධාරින්ට සඳහා උපදෙස් ලබා දී ඇත.
නිවේදනයක් නිකුත් කරමින් පොලිස් මූලස්ථානය මේ බව දැනුම් දී තිබේ.
පසුගිය කාලය තුල දිවයිනේ විවිධ ප්රදේශවල සිදුවූ වෙඩි තැබීම් හා මනුෂ්ය ඝාතන ඇතුළු විවිධ අපරාධ සඳහා සැකකරුවන් පැමිණීමේදී හිස හා මුහුණ ආවරණය වන පරිදි හිස් වැසුම් පැළඳ අපරාධ සිදු කර ඇති බව නිරික්ෂණය වී ඇති බව පොලීසිය පවසයි.
හිස්වැසුම් පැළඳ සිටීම අවශ්ය වනුයේ යතුරුපැදියක ගමන් කරන අවස්ථාවන්හිදී වන අතර එය පැදිකරුගේ හා පසුපැදිකරුගේ ආරක්ෂාව සඳහා පමණක් වේ.
එබැවින් යම් පුද්ගලයෙකු යතුරුපැදියක ගමන් නොකරන අවස්ථාවකදී ආරක්ෂිත හිස් වැසුම් පැළඳ සැකකටයුතු ලෙස හැසිරෙන බව නිරික්ෂණය වූ විට එම පුද්ගලයා සහ ඔහු සන්තකයේ ඇති බඩු බාහිරාදිය පරික්ෂා කිරීම සිදුකළ යුතු බවට දන්වා පොලිස් මූලස්ථානය මගින් සියලුම පොලිස් නිලධාරීන් සඳහා උපදෙස් ලබා දී ඇත බව එම නිවේදනයේ වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් වේ.
