The Sri Lanka Vehicle Importers Association says that about 400 vehicles have been stuck at Sri Lanka Customs for more than 20 days due to the new import regulations.
Association President Indika Sampath Merenchige said that the government has mandated that the exact production date be mentioned, but it is challenging.
Accordingly, he urges the authorities to reconsider this decision.
He also said that the delay in releasing vehicles could discourage buyers and added that the price of vehicles would increase from Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 50,000 due to the delay fee.

සංගමයේ සභාපති ඉන්දික සම්පත් මෙරෙන්චිගේ පැවසුවේ, නිශ්චිත නිෂ්පාදන දිනය සඳහන් කිරීම රජය විසින් නියම කර ඇති නමුත් එය අභියෝගාත්මක බවයි.
ඒ අනුව ඔහු බලධාරීන්ගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටින්නේ, මෙම තීරණය නැවත සලකා බලන ලෙසයි.
වාහන නිදහස් කිරීම ප්රමාදය ගැනුම්කරුවන් අධෛර්යමත් කළ හැකි බවත් පවසන ඔහු ප්රමාද ගාස්තු හේතුවෙන් වාහන මිල රුපියල් 40,000 සිට රුපියල් 50,000 දක්වා ඉහළ යනු ඇතැයිද පැවසීය.
