The President of the Government Medical Officers’ Association, Dr. Sanjeewa Tennakoon, Secretary Prabath Sugathadasa, Treasurer Bandara Warakagoda, a group of the association’s executive committee and the former President’s Senior Advisor S. Samaratunga participated in this meeting and there was a lengthy discussion on the current issues facing government doctors.
Since the 1/80th of an hour paid as an additional duty allowance is a value inherent in the special service rendered to doctors, the 1/80th value should be maintained unchanged along with the revision of the basic salary as has been done in history, the 1/20th value paid for working on holidays and Sundays should be maintained, the decision to increase the basic salary of the public service, which is a positive point in the 2025 budget, should be implemented in the same manner, and the proposals and programs provided by the Government Medical Officers’ Association for the medical profession and the medical service should be considered.
Accordingly, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe instructed the Government Medical Officers’ Association to provide a report on the decisions taken in the discussions with the International Monetary Fund during the period 2022, 2023 and 2024 without harming all public servants. Accordingly, it was announced that Dr. Samaratunga would provide all that information within two days.
Following the discussion, the Medical Officers Association addressed Ranil Wickremesinghe and said, “It would be good if an experienced leader like you represented Parliament at this time.”

අමතර රාජකාරී දීමනාව ලෙස පැයකට ගෙවනු ලැබූ 1/80 අගය වෛද්යවරුන්ට සුවිශේෂණ සේවාව ආවේණික අගයක් බැවින් ඉතිහාසයේ මෙතෙක් සිදු වූ පරිදි මූලික වැටුප සංශෝධනය සමග එම 1/80 අගය නොවෙනස්ව පවත්වා ගැනීම, නිවාඩු දින, ඉරිදා දිනවල සේවයේ යෙදීම වෙනුවෙන් ගෙවනු ලබන මෙතෙක් පැවති 1/20 අගය අනුව පවත්වාගෙන යාම,2025 අයවැය ලේඛනයේ ධනාත්මක කරුණක් වන රාජ්ය සේවයේ මූලික වැටුප් ඉහළ නැංවීමේ තීරණය එළෙසම ක්රියාත්මක කිරීම, වෛද්ය වෘත්තිය සහ වෛද්ය සේවාව වෙනුවෙන් රජයේ වෛද්ය නිලධාරීන්ගේ සංගමය විසින් ලබාදී ඇති යෝජනා සහ වැඩසටහන් ක්රියාවලිය සළකා බැලීම වෛද්ය සංගමය ඉදිරිපත් කළ යෝජනා අතර වෙයි.
ඒ අනුව හිටපු ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්රමසිංහ උපදෙස් ලබාදුන්නේ, 2022, 2023 සහ 2024 කාල වකවානුව තුළ සමස්ත රාජ්ය සේවකයන්ට හානියක් නොවන පරිදි ජාත්යන්තර මූල්ය අරමුදල සමග කරන ලද සාකච්ඡාවලදී ගත් තීන්දු තීරණවල වාර්ථාවක් රජයේ වෛද්ය නිලධාරීන්ගේ සංගමයට ලබා දෙන ලෙසය. ඒ අනුව ආචාර්ය සමරතුංග දින දෙකක් තුළදී එම සියලු තොරතුරු ලබා දෙන බවත් ප්රකාශ කරන ලදී.
සාකච්ඡාවෙන් අනතුරුව වෛද්ය නිලධාරීන්ගේ සංගමය රනිල් වික්රමසිංහ අමතමින් “ඔබතුමා වැනි පලපුරුදු නායකයෙක් මේ වෙලාවේ පාර්ලිමේන්තුව නියෝජනය කළොත් හොඳයි” යනුවෙන් පැවසීය.
“නෑ.. මම දැන් විවේක සුවයෙන් ඉන්නේ. නමුත් ඔයගොල්ලන්ට අවශ්ය ඕනෑම සහයෝගයක් ලබාදෙන්න මම සූදානම්“ යැයි හිටපු ජනාධිපතිවරයා ඊට පිළිතුරු ලෙස පැවසීය.
