A meeting between former President Maithripala Sirisena and Maldives Speaker Abdul Rahim Abdullah took place recently (27).
This was at the Maldives Parliament.
During this meeting, the former President, as the current Chairman of the International Summit Council for Peace in the Pacific (ISCP), had also extended an invitation to the Maldives Speaker.
That is to participate in the World Peace Conference scheduled to be held next April.
The Maldivian Speaker, who cordially accepted the invitation, had also expressed his gratitude for the support provided to the Maldives during the Maithripala Sirisena administration.
It was also stated that he would always work to develop the friendship and cooperation between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
During this discussion, there was also discussion regarding the current political situation and the former President also left a commemorative note.
හිටපු ජනපති මෛත්රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා සහ මාලදිවයිනේ කතානායක අබ්දුල් රහීම් අබ්දුල්ලා අතර හමුවක් පසුගියදා (27) දා සිදුව තිබුණා.
ඒ, මාලදිවයිනේ පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේදී යි.
මෙම හමුවේදී, පැසිෆික් කලාපයේ සාමය සඳහා වන ජාත්යන්තර සමුළු කවුන්සිලයේ (ISCP) වර්තමාන සභාපති ලෙස හිටපු ජනපතිවරයා විසින් මාලදිවයිනේ කථානායකවරයාට ආරාධනාවක් ද සිදුකර තිබුණා.
ඒ, ලබන අප්රේල් මාසයේදී පැවැත්වීමට නියමිත ලෝක සාම සම්මේලනයට සහභාගී වන ලෙසයි.
එම ආරාධනාව සුහදව පිළිගත් මාලදිවයිනේ කතානායකවරයා විසින් මෛත්රීපාල සිරිසේන පාලන සමයේදී මාලදිවයින වෙනුවෙන් ලබාදුන් සහයෝගය පිළිබඳව ස්තූතිය ද පිරිනමා තිබුණා.
එමෙන්ම සෑම විටම ශ්රී ලංකාව සහ මාලදිවයින අතර තිබෙන මිත්රත්වය සහ සහයෝගය වර්ධනය කරගැනීමට කටයුතු කරන බවත් එහිදී සඳහන් කර තිබෙනවා.
මෙම සාකච්ඡාවේදී වත්මන් දේශපාලන තත්ත්වයන් සම්බන්ධයෙන්ද කතාබහක් සිදුව තිබූ අතර හිටපු ජනපතිවරයා විසින් සමරු සටහනක් ද තැබීමට කටයුතු කර තිබුණා.
