A Public Health Inspector (PHI) has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for allegedly demanding and receiving a bribe of Rs. 2 lakh to renew a hotel license in Dambulla.
According to reports, the arrest was made following an investigation into allegations that the Public Health Inspector had demanded a bribe from the hotel management to expedite the process of renewing the license.
The Commission conducted the operation after receiving a complaint regarding the incident.
Officials have not yet revealed further details about the identity of the suspect or other individuals involved.
