Deputy Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Attorney-at-Law Sunil Watagala, says that the government is preparing to present a bill to Parliament for this purpose, although it will not be notified in writing to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to vacate his official residence.
Further commenting, Mr. Watagala said,
“30,000 square feet.. is one five-acre plot. Please, Mr. President… think about it if you have a conscience. If you don’t go, then… the bill will be presented to Parliament in a few days. A letter will not be sent. A bill will be presented in Parliament. It will have to be based on legal provisions.

“වර්ග අඩි 30,000යි.. එක පංචස්කන්දයයි. අනේ ජනාධිපතිතුමනී… හෘද සාක්ෂියක් තියෙනවා නම් කල්පනා කරලා බලන්න. ගියේ නැත්නම් ඉතින්… පනත එනවනේ පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට තව නොබෝ දිනකින්. ලිපියක් ගහන්නේ නැහැ. පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේ පනතක් එනවා.ඒකේ නීත්යානුකූල ප්රතිපාදන මතම යන්න වෙනවා.
