The government has instructed state institutions to auction selected luxury vehicles such as V8 with high-capacity engines and submit a report on the income earned from them to the Ministry of Finance before March 01, 2025.
It is reported that Mahinda Siriwardena, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, has issued these instructions to all heads of state institutions through a special circular.
According to the circular, vehicles falling under HS 87.03 of the Customs Ordinance, namely petrol vehicles with an engine capacity of more than 1800CC and diesel vehicles with an engine capacity of more than 2300CC, cabs, double cabs, vans, buses, lorries and trucks, are scheduled to be auctioned.
The Ministry of Finance has prohibited state institutions from obtaining any of the vehicles scheduled to be auctioned.
The circular further states that it is the responsibility of all heads of state institutions to monitor all state vehicles, reduce expenses and prevent misuse.

අධි ධාරිතාවයෙන් යුත් එන්ජින් සහිත V8 වැනි තෝරාගත් සුඛෝපභෝගී වාහන වෙන්දේසි කර ඉන් උපයාගත් ආදායම පිළිබඳ වාර්තාවක් 2025 මාර්තු 01 වැනි දිනට පෙර මුදල් අමාත්යාංශය වෙත ලබාදෙන ලෙස රජය රාජ්ය ආයතන වෙත උපදෙස් දී තිබේ.
විශේෂ චක්රලේඛයක් මගින් මුදල් අමාත්යාංශයේ ලේකම් මහින්ද සිරිවර්ධන සියලුම රාජ්ය ආයතන ප්රධානීන් වෙත මෙම උපදෙස් නිකුත් කර ඇති බව වාර්තා වේ.
චක්රලේඛයට අනුව, රේගු ආඥාපනතේ HS 87.03 කාණ්ඩයට අයත් වන වාහන, එනම් එන්ජින් ධාරිතාව 1800CCට වැඩි පෙට්රල් වාහන සහ එන්ජින් ධාරිතාව 2300CC ට වැඩි ඩීසල් වාහන, කැබ් රථ, ඩබල් කැබ් රථ, වෑන්, බස්, ලොරි සහ ට්රක් රථ වෙන්දේසි කිරීමට නියමිතය.
වෙන්දේසි කිරීමට නියමිත වාහන කිසිවක් රාජ්ය ආයතනවලට ලබා ගැනීම මුදල් අමාත්යාංශය විසින් තහනම් කර තිබේ.
සියලුම රාජ්ය වාහන අධීක්ෂණය කිරීම, වියදම් අඩුකර ගැනීම සහ අවභාවිතයන් වැළැක්වීම සියලුම රාජ්ය ආයතන ප්රධානීන්ගේ වගකීමක් බව ද එම චක්රලේඛය මගින් වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කර තිබේ.
