Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his resignation on Monday, saying he would step down as soon as the ruling Liberal Party chooses a new leader.
Trudeau, who has been in power since 2015, was forced to resign as prime minister after a protracted political crisis among the Liberal Party’s leaders.
He told reporters that the party’s internal fighting had left him unable to confront his political rivals.
Accordingly, he announced that Canada’s parliament would now be prorogued until March 24, which means that the parliament will be suspended for the next two and a half months.

ඒ අනුව කැනඩා පාර්ලිමේන්තුව දැන් මාර්තු 24 දක්වා කල්තබන බව ඔහු ප්රකාශ කර ඇති අතර, එයින් අදහස් වන්නේ ඉදිරි මාස දෙකහමාරක් සඳහා පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේ කටයුතු ඇණහිට ඇති බවයි.
