had lasted until then ended with the death of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran at the hands of war heroes at the Nandikadal Lagoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The country&#8217;s security forces also have the honor of freeing thousands of civilians who were being held hostage by the LTTE in the world&#8217;s largest humanitarian operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The &#8220;National Victory Celebration&#8221; is scheduled to be held tomorrow (19) to mark the 16th anniversary of the war victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The celebration is scheduled to be held from 4 to 6 pm at the War Heroes&#8217; Memorial in Kotte, Sri Jayewardenepura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, who led the tri-services to end terrorism, Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda and Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Gunathilaka are also scheduled to participate in the National War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony, which will be held under the patronage of the Deputy Minister of Defense, Major General (retd) Aruna Jayasekara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
