in the Lasantha Wickramatunga murder case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On January 27, Attorney General Parinda Ranasinghe informed the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) that legal proceedings against three key suspects in the case would not continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the letter, former military intelligence officer Prem Ananda Udalagama, former OIC of the Mount Lavinia Crime Branch Sub-Inspector Tissasiri Sugathapala and former DIG Prasanna Nanayakkara could be released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responding to criticism of the Attorney General&#8217;s recommendation, the government said it would investigate the matter and conduct a study on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
